Culinary Teas has the largest selection and inventory of one of a kind antique Yixing (pronounced yeeshing) teapots in the United States. Our teapots are imported directly from China,with some teapots at least 50 years old with some much older. Most of our teapots are true one of kinds with 3 or 4 at the most existing in the world, not mass made knock-offs. We grade them for quality and detail and provide them to collectors in the United States. These teapots are handmade individually and prized by collectors all over the world. The Zi Sha clay, which these teapots are made of, is found in the hilly southern area of the Yixing region. What makes an Yixing teapot unique is that the inside is never glazed. Each time the teapot is used it absorbs some of the oil from the tea. Over time, a layer of tea sediment forms, and with subsequent use one is brewing tea within tea which enhances the flavor, color, and aroma of fine tea.
