Pu-erh tea is famous for it's purported medicinal qualities. The taste has been described as mellow, however those not accustomed to the taste might call it "old", "elemental"' or "earthy". Pu-erh is aged and encouraged to have a light coating of mold - hence the musty character. The older the pu-erh, the more prized it is.
